Why a private, no-upload PDF editor matters

Most free online PDF editors upload your file to their servers. PDF Studio never does: your PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely inside your browser.

What happens to your file on most "free online" PDF editors

Most web PDF tools work by uploading your document to their servers, processing it there and sending a new file back. That is how they can offer heavy features cheaply. It also means a copy of your file sits on someone else's computer for at least a while, under their retention policy, in their jurisdiction, and inside their security perimeter.

That matters because of what people actually edit in PDFs: Aadhaar and PAN copies, passports, bank statements, salary slips, tax returns, medical reports, offer letters and rental agreements. These are some of the most sensitive files most people own.

How PDF Studio is different

Check it yourself in 30 seconds

  1. Open your browser's developer tools (F12 on a laptop) and go to the Network tab.
  2. Open a PDF in PDF Studio, edit it and download it.
  3. Look at the requests. You will see the page load its open-source libraries and fonts from a public CDN, and no request that sends your document anywhere.

The honest trade-offs

Frequently asked questions

Is there a PDF editor that doesn't upload my file?

Yes. PDF Studio runs entirely in your browser. Opening, editing and saving all happen on your device, and the file is never sent to a server.

Is it safe to edit Aadhaar, PAN or bank statements online?

With a tool that uploads files, you are trusting that company's servers and policies. With PDF Studio nothing is uploaded, so the document stays on your device the whole time.

Does PDF Studio collect any data?

No. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking scripts in the app. The page only loads its open-source libraries and fonts from a public CDN.

How can I verify it isn't uploading my file?

Watch your browser's Network tab while you open, edit and download a PDF, or read the source code on GitHub. No request carries your document.

Is it really free?

Yes. It is free and open source under the MIT license, with no watermark, no page limit and no sign-up.
