How to sign a PDF for free
You can sign a PDF on your phone or laptop for free, without printing, scanning or creating an account. Draw your signature, type it, or use a photo of it, then download the signed file.
Open PDF Studio, freeNo sign-up. Your file never leaves your device.
Sign a PDF in 5 steps
- Open the PDF you need to sign. Go to pdfstudio.mrxamjad.com and tap Open PDF, or drop the file on the page.
- Pick how you want to sign. Draw it with your finger or mouse using the Draw tool, type your name in the Great Vibes signature font with the Text tool, or insert a photo of your signature with the Image tool.
- Place it on the signature line. Drag the signature into position and resize it from the corners. Pick a dark blue or black ink color if you drew or typed it.
- Add the date and your name. Tap with the Text tool next to the signature to type the date or your printed name.
- Download the signed PDF. Tap Download. The signature is part of the file, so anyone who opens it sees it, in any PDF reader.
Three ways to make your signature
- Draw it. Best on a phone or a laptop with a touchscreen. Use a finger, a stylus or a trackpad. The stroke is saved as a vector line, so it stays sharp when printed.
- Type it. Choose the Great Vibes (signature) font in the text style panel and type your name. Quick, tidy and consistent across documents.
- Use a photo of your real signature. Sign a white sheet of paper, take a photo, crop it close and insert it with the Image tool. For a clean look, use a PNG with a transparent background.
Is a signature added this way legally valid?
In many countries an electronic signature, meaning a drawn, typed or pasted signature on a document, is legally recognised for everyday agreements. Examples include the ESIGN Act in the US, eIDAS in the EU and the Information Technology Act, 2000 in India. Some documents need a stronger, certificate-based digital signature instead: in India that usually means an Aadhaar eSign or a DSC, and the same goes for many government filings, wills and property papers. PDF Studio adds a visual electronic signature, not a certificate-based one. If you are unsure what your document needs, ask whoever asked you to sign it. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Why sign without uploading?
Documents you sign tend to be the sensitive ones: rental agreements, offer letters, bank and tax forms. Most free online signing tools upload the file to their servers to process it. PDF Studio doesn't. The file is opened and saved inside your browser, so your signature and your document stay on your device. More on why that matters.
Frequently asked questions
How can I sign a PDF for free without Adobe?
Open it in PDF Studio, draw or type your signature, place it, and download. It's free, needs no account and adds no watermark.
Can I sign a PDF on my phone?
Yes. Use the Draw tool and sign with your finger, on Android or iPhone, then download or share the signed file.
Is my signature uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Neither the document nor your signature is sent to a server.
Can I reuse my signature?
Save a photo of your signature (ideally a transparent PNG) on your device and insert it with the Image tool whenever you need it. PDF Studio does not store anything between visits.
Is this a certified digital signature?
No. It is a visual electronic signature, which is fine for many everyday agreements. Documents that legally need a certificate-based signature, such as Aadhaar eSign or a DSC in India, need a dedicated signing service.
